Iseult Gonne (1894-1954) was the illegitimate daughter of Maud Gonne, the celebrated Irish republican revolutionary, actress, suffragette and long-time muse of Irish poet W. B. Yeats. When Yeat’s romantic advances to Maud failed, he turned his attentions on Iseult - some 29 years his junior. She refused him and eventually eloped with Irish writer Francis Stuart when he was just 17 years old, she 26.
